Welcome to my pilot website, dedicated to the buttons of the Austrian Empire up to 1918. Why were these pages created, and why focus on the buttons of the Austrian Empire?

The answer is simple. This topic has never been processed or presented by anyone before, so I decided to cover it here.

The oldest Austrian buttons covered here were worn in the mid-18th century, with the last examples appearing in 1918. This site attempts to showcase buttons spanning approximately 180 years (1740 - 1918). The best way to illustrate where Austrian Empire buttons can be found is through an 18th-century map of the empire.

This site may be of interest to people from the following countries: Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Czech Republic, Croatia, France, Hungary, Germany, Poland, Austria, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Serbia, Italy, and Ukraine. It is in these countries that one can find the buttons covered here.

This site was launched at the beginning of May 2024, with topics and information for each unique button type being added gradually. By mid-November 2024, nearly 700 types of buttons are featured here. I appreciate your patience as content is continually added.
